Earlier today Monster Hunter 4G was announced in Japan, now Capcom have revealed that Monster Hunter 4G will be known as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate when it gets its worldwide release in 2015. Yes, a 2015 game already this early in the year.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is exclusively coming to the Nintendo 3DS, there won’t be a Wii U version this time around. The game features full online multiplayer as well as local multiplayer returning.

Producer on the game, Ryozo Tsujimoto has released a video talking about the game – we’ve included it below.

It is a shame that the Wii U isn’t performing that well currently. I assume that their MH3U Wii U sales numbers didn’t justify doing it again this time around . The whole 3DS/Wii U dynamic suited me pretty perfectly.

I was excited to hear the news as I enjoyed MH3U, which was my first play of the Monster Hunter series, though I played it on my Wii U and can’t actually see myself playing a game like that on the 3DS just because it’s quite intense, doesn’t seem very portable with some missions being quite long and a lack of internet on the go. I know more people probably played MH3U on 3DS than Wii U, but I think it’s silly that they wouldn’t make the next game on both platforms.
