Miyamoto likes Angry Birds, but thinks it would have been better on the DS

Miyamoto doesn’t often say much about what the competition are up to or what other games he is playing. So to get an admission out of Miyamoto that he’s enjoyed something that isn’t on a Nintendo console is quote rate. But it’s not all praise.

Recently a new interview, Mr Miyamoto has admitted has enjoyed the Angry Birds games, a fact that might be hard for some people to swallow. Here’s what he had to say;
What I like about Angry Birds is that it has a traditional video game [feel] to it, but also a very creative side. And you can really feel that they’re having fun developing the game. That’s what I like about it.
Angry Birds is a very simple idea but it’s one of those games that I immediately appreciated when I first started playing, before wishing that I had been the one to come up with the idea first. I mean, obviously I want to be the one creating the most convincing, surprising game ideas.
But it wasn’t all positive with some backhanded comments about the games platform of choice.
Obviously, if the developer had created the game for Nintendo DS the controls would have been even better, but what can you do?
While we agree Angry Birds would be good on the DS or even 3DS, there’s no reason it shouldn’t be on both.
