The long-awaited Better Together update for Minecraft now has a date on the Switch. The updated game will be out on June 21st both at retail and on the eShop. Owners of the existing version of Minecraft will be able to download the new version for free.

The new version of Minecraft runs the Bedrock Engine bringing it in line with all the other consoles and the PC. It also means there’s crossplay between the platforms with this new update, including the Xbox One and Android.

Now known as just ‘Minecraft’ with no ‘Switch Edition’ on the end, the game will support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership and also has support for Xbox Live Achievements and Gamerscore.

We’ll let you know should the Australian date be any different, but digitally at least we should get it the same day.
