If gaming site Kotaku is to be believed, Midway has shut down their recently bought out Midway Australia Studio, which prior to August was knows as Adelaide based Ratbag Studios. Midway’s Vice President of the Worldwide Studios delivered a pre-written speech to 50 suprised employees, which included one staff member who had just transferred from the UK.

While it is strange to shut down a recently acquired studio, Midway;s recent games have’nt been as strong at retail as they would of hoped and its most likely forced Midway to make the cut.

Update: The guys over at PALGN have been contacted by a former employee of the studion and has confirmed that the story is true. While Never making any games on a Nintendo platform, any loss the Australian gaming industry is bad and all of the Vooks.Net team hope all those who are out of work are able to find employment elsewere.
