With the assistance of Namco Bandai, Nintendo will be releasing a third arcade entry in the Mario Kart series.

The title will be known as Mario Kart Arcade Grand Prix DX (quite a mouthful) and will follow on from Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2.

Grand Prix DX will take inspiration from Mario Kart 7 and include both gliding and underwater elements.

Modes unveiled so far are Grand Prix, Co-op, “Clone” Battle Mode and also a four-player Competitive Mode.

Attendees of the Japanese Amusement Expo on the 15th and 16th of February will have the opportunity to try out the new Mario Kart Arcade before it is released locally.

A release outside of Japan is yet to be announced.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
