Mario Kart 8 boosts Wii U sales 666% in the UK

Eeeeeevil.

We knew Mario Kart 8 would boost Wii U sales but we didn’t think it would be such a number as this. The racing stalwart has boosted the console sales 666 percent, for some that number could be a worry. 82 percent of the Wii U units sold were in bundles as well.

The news was good for the game itself as well with the game coming only second to Watch_Dogs which was released on multiple platforms. It was also the biggest Wii U game launch ever in the UK and second best launch for a Mario Kart game ever. Great result.

We should see results of Japan later in the week and the US later on. Let’s hope the game pushed Wii U sales in Australia just as much. Considering social media was flooded with Mario Kart 8 related material all weekend we think it might have.
