Nintendos Big Three, as they have come to be known, are Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl. A new interview with Perrin Kaplin from the recent Nintendo Media summit has spilled the beans on just why the Big Three where missing from the event. E3 is coming up, and I think we dont want to get too far ahead of ourselves. I know theres a difference of opinions on what you all want to see versus what we are wanting to show right now. Kaplin further iterated that this media summit was for the summer line up in the US and that E3 will reveal the rest of the years line up.
The interview also discussed Sony, the zapper, core gamers and more inside.
The title of the GameInformer interview is Taking a Spin with Perrin and its obvious Perrin Kaplin is a proficient PR person. She rarely answers questions directly or she will answer a question with an answer that doesnt answer the question, she is rather good at her job in doing so. However, when quizzed on what she thought about Sonys Gamer Day showing last week she said simply, I think they wanted to reveal all of what they have coming up so everyone would get excited. When asked if the Big Three would be at the E3 she said, I cant tell you whats going to be at E3 yet. Youre going to like what we have to offer, though. I can tell you that. We have some additional surprises. In reference to the zapper prototype which was shown off at last years E3 Kaplin agreed it would be a cool peripheral indicating it may still see release.
While there have been a lot of Wii games released we know there are many more to come but the wait can be frustrating for many of us and Kaplin knows this. We know that we dont share a lot and its really frustrating. But yes we have a lot of great stuff coming. Well just have to take her word for it. When asked if the core gamer was being left behind for the new gamers Nintendo are targeting she responded, You know its interesting. We have these arguments internally. Do we have too much expanded audience and not enough core? Do we have too much core and not enough expanded? Everybody on any given day has one opinion, and they can change their minds the next day.”” Were figuring out what that balance is. By December Id love to know if you still feel this way. The interviewer then replied with, By December Id expect to have Smash Bros. Mario, and Metroid out the door to which Kaplan responded, Tell me by November then. Rather cryptic What could it mean?
