Japan is getting an Eevee-themed Tamagotchi next year

Ahhh Tamagotchi — the lovely little virtual pets that demand all of your time and are far too easy to kill (just ask my fellow Vooks writer Josh). It’s about time they got a crossover with everyone’s other favourite pocket monster.

Rumours and leaks have been swirling around for a few weeks now, but today Bandai officially revealed that, starting in January, they’ll be selling a special Eevee-themed Tamagotchi in Japan. The Eeveegotchi (not an official name, but the one I’m using anyway) lets you hatch and raise an Eevee that can evolve into any of its eight Eeveelutions — Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon. There’s also a chance for your Eevee to be one of three special Eevees — a Ditto disguised as an Eevee, an Eevee dressed in Team Rocket gear, and an Eevee wearing an adorable costume, complete with flowers.

The Eeveegotchi (still not official, but still great) will be available in two designs, and is scheduled to release in Japan on the 26th of January 2019. There’s no word on if these will come to the West yet, but some import sites already have preorders available, many of which have sold out already. Keep an eye on places like Sunyshore, which have preorders live, and are said to be increasing their preorder limit as soon as possible.
