Hold your tongue, Mario Kart Wii Text chat not as expected

It was reported that Mario Kart Wii would be featuring text chat when released but it seems the implementation is not what we were all expecting. After being contacted by Nintendo, IGN has updated their report stating that although you will still be able to communicate before and after each game, it will only be through a set of pre-determined phrases. It seems Nintendos over protective online system is back in full force, but at least is shouldnt detract from the actual gameplay.
