We learnt last week about importing Guitar Hero tracks, turns out that was the tip of the iceberg regarding new features on the Wii version

The SD slot on the Wii went mainly unused until the latest version of the firmware came out. Only a spattering of releases used it and we’ve only just been able to save Virtual Console and WiiWare games and Guitar Hero DLC to it. Now with Guitar Hero 5, the SD card is going to get a work out, not only that but the game will push downloadable content usage to the next stage.

Not only does Guitar Hero 5 support SDHC cards, but it’ll now be able to stream songs directly off the card. Cards up to 32GBs will be supported and Vicarious Visions say that that’s enough space for over 800 songs. Who needs a hard drive now?  You’ll also be able to manage your SD card from in game.

On the downloading side of this you’ll be able to download track packs, full albums and sing songs now. No waiting for each track to download and no missing out on certain track packs because the licence holder only wants them sold together. You can also now queue up downloads and pause and resume them later if you so wish. Oh the convenience!

The Wii version of Guitar Hero 5 is shaping up very nicely.
