The Good Guys get back into gaming

They’ll be a new addition to our bargain guides now with The Good Guys getting back into the game. The company stopped selling games in any meaningful way a couple of years ago, but thanks to their acquisition by JB Hi-Fi they’re back.

Prices so far aren’t anything special so far, but we’re going to assume they’ll have similar or the same pricing as JB Hi-Fi. With more stores to fill JB Hi-Fi’s buying power will be significantly boosted which is exciting as it could mean better pricing.

I’m wondering if some of the good guys stores will end up repositories for stock JB can’t seem to get rid of. Like Pandora’s Tower. Or that Doctor Who DS game.

Too little, too late methinks. I don’t think I’ve ever bought any games from The Good Guys. The cases were always in such awful condition (which was the main reason why I didn’t buy more DS/Wii games back in the day in general). I more or less buy games at launch nowadays just so I know that the cases have been fiddled by as few grubby hands as possible.

Was it around the time the Wii stopped being a thing that The Good Guys left gaming? Really interesting that now that Nintendo is a big thing again, they’ve jumped back in. A healthy Nintendo seems to lead to a healthy video game market. Another option in this case is not a bad thing.

They bailed at the end of the first year or so of the Wii U lifecycle. Great bargains were had at the clearance! I remember a $5 copy of New Luigi Bros on Wii U. This might open up opportunities for discounts in the form of 20% off ebay sales but we will see if it means much in the wake of Amazon
