Global DS sales expected to top 100 million
Combined global sales of the Nintendo DS are expected to clear over 100 million sales very soon, a Japanese newspaper is reporting. Since launching in the US in November 2004, the platform has gone on to sell 96.22 million units globally as of December 31, 2008. The nearly 5 year old system has undergone three hardware revisions, with the upcoming DSi version hitting Australian stores on April 2nd. The DS continues to enjoy considerable market share, and with the upcoming DSi Ware service, Nintendo will expand their online distribution of original game content pioneered by the WiiWare service.
