Generation 3 Pokémon arriving in Pokémon Go soon, PvP and more – Niantic
A fresh interview with Niantic CEO John Hanke has been published in Taiwanese magazine Business Weekly and spoke about upcoming plans for the game.
Hanke was asked about the games next “ace in the hole” would be;
“There is a lot of Pokémon that have not yet been launched. So I think the next secret weapon will be launch of the next Pokémon generation. I hope the players will soon see them.”
This isn’t much of a surprise seeing as the data for these Pokemon were added into the game back in August, but the hinting certainly means it shouldn’t be too much further away.
There was also talk about “planning to develop a new battle mode” which is no doubt the reference to the long-standing requests for PVP, but this is further away Hanke revealed.
Lastly, Niantic is looking at some way to bring social features into the game so people don’t have to rely on Facebook or Discord groups (or know to look there) for gym raids and other community events. Bringing it into the game will let a lot more people find other people to play the game with.
