Games announced for Switch this week – 24/03 – 30/03

Finally, we have a quiet week and when I say that, I mean that there are still games announced, but we have not hit double digits this week, which is the first time in a long while. A few big ones this week, kicking off with MotoGP 18, the first time the series has come to a Nintendo platform in a decade and we end on a game, based out of the Serious Sam world, though quite different indeed. Here we go and remember to always wipe your hands of chocolate, before you pick up your Switch.

MotoGP 18

The first MotoGP game on a Nintendo platform since the 08′ release back in 2007, this is the first of many for the series as it is the first time the game will be built in Unreal, but even that is not enough. Players will get to compete in all series, MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3 and Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and all 19 official tracks, including the new Buriram International Circuit in Thailand. While the game is hitting other platforms in early June, it has been said that Switch racers will get it soon after.

Pixeljunk Monsters 2

This May, Spike Chunsoft will be bringing their next entry in the PixelJunk series to Switch with PixelJunk Monsters 2, where you will play as Tikiman and build towers to defend your Tiki Hut from the monster hordes. While we never got the first one on Switch, the sequel brings with it 4 player online co-op, new and sometimes quite explosive fruit bombs and on top of that the game has been fully re-imagined in beautifully detailed 3D. Get ready to defend your Chibis again in this fun and addictive game for all the family.

Steins;Gate Elite

Not content with just one game, Spike Chunsoft has announced that Steins;Gate Elite is coming to Switch this year as well. A HD remake of Phenogram, the game will be completely remastered with animated scenes from the anime, creating a perfectly new, immersive experience. follows a rag-tag band of tech-savvy young students who discover the means of changing the past via e-mail using a modified microwave. For the Nintendo Switch version, Steins;Gate 8-bit, a special 8-bit graphics and chiptune version of the game developed by series creator Mr. Chiyomaru Shikura, will be available.

Remothered: Tormented Fathers

Players will get to meet Rosemary Reed, a fascinating 35-year-old woman, who reaches Richard Felton’s house, in order to investigate on the disappearance of a girl called Celeste. The woman is greeted by Gloria, the nurse who takes care of the old Richard. When Dr. Felton understands Rosemary’s true intentions, the dread begins. Psychology plays a huge role within the game: heroes and enemies are atypical and the line between good and evil is blurred. Remothered: Tormented Fathers is the pure and realistic survival horror game.

Aftercharge

AFTERCHARGE is a 3 vs 3 competitive game pitting invisible robots against an invincible security squad in high-octane tactical skirmishes. The robots must sneak around to destroy all the energy extractors on the site while the guards are tasked to spot the attackers and stop them. The Switch version will offer cross-platform play with the PC and Xbox One versions as well, so there should be no shortage of people to play against.

Burly Men at Sea

A branching folktale adventure about a trio of large, bearded fishermen in early 20th-century Scandinavia. You play as storyteller and wayfinder, shaping the narrative around three ungainly heroes. Play through once for a single tale, then set sail again to uncover paths to new adventures. Play through multiple choice-driven adventures, each designed to be completed in a single sitting.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs

Regalia draws inspiration from jRPG classics, but also delivers a modern mix of good old adventuring and dynamic storytelling. It’s a tactical RPG, but it’s actually a game about the restoration of your kingdom, bonding with vibrant characters met during your journey, embarking on the most peculiar quests possible, and bringing back your best jRPG moments in an up-to-date, accessible style. The game is called Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs, but the console release has the subtitle of Royal Edition.

Not Tonight

Not Tonight, is a politically-charged satirical game set in an alternative version of Britain, where Brexit talks have collapsed and an extreme far-right government has taken power. Forced out of your previous life, you find yourself in the midst of a frantic gig economy, manning the doors of pubs, clubs, festivals and parties, and fighting to scrape by and return to the city you call home.

I Hate Running Backwards

There you go, a much quieter week than we have had in the past few. Any games here strike your fancy, be sure to let us know if you know of any games coming to Switch, even if it is your own.
