Nintendo dropped a bit of a bombshell on WiiU owners today, stating that the GameCube controller adapter will only be compatible with Super Smash Bros. for WiiU, not any other software.
Previous announcements and official descriptions indicated that the peripheral would be compatible with a wide range of both Wii and WiiU titles.
The updated product blurb on the Official Nintendo UK Store now reads as follows:
Please note the GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U is compatible with Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U specifically – it is not compatible with any other Wii U software. The adapter is also not compatible with Wii and we apologise for any confusion prompted by our earlier listing.
