In another Iwata Asks feature in which its revealed that Flipnote Studio began its life as a WiiWare project
With Flipnote Studio being released tomorrow, the information of its development has come spilling out in the form of an ‘Iwata Asks’ feature. This instalment features Yoshiaki Koizumi from Nintendo’s EAD Tokyo Software Development Department, and Hatena crew members.
When Flipnote was first being thought up, it was originally going to be a Wii project. The Nintendo DSi wasn’t even thought up yet and when the idea didn’t work on the Wii, it moved onto the everyday Nintendo DS. The idea was simple: draw something on the DS and it would show up on the screen through the Wii. The software would be put on the DS through the Download Play feature and you used the Wii as a trading hub and also to save your pictures.
Dinosaur on skateboard, how awesome.
Iwata also says that he hopes the "relationship between Nintendo’s game consoles and the Internet will deepen now that there’s a way for people to easily bring their ideas to life and present them to others – the same way that today they fire off emails right and left."
Flipnote Studio is out tomorrow in Europe and Australia
