FIFA 18 getting free World Cup update on May 29th

The World Cup is coming and so is a free update to FIFA 18 at the end of this month. The new ‘World Cup’ mode will see you be able to play out the 2018 FIFA World Cup in your own lounge room, instead of Russia.

It looks like the game will be re-issued in stores with a new boxart. If you already have the game it’ll just be a simple download.

What's your reaction?
Oh wow!

Woohoooo!!! Been anxiously awaiting this announcement after I picked up FIFA 18 finally a few weeks ago for PS4. Couldn’t justify getting it on switch when it lacks the ‘The Journey’ campaign. Hopefully there is complete parity between the free download and the in-store purchase and it’s comprehensive as the last separate release in 2014 i.e lots of stadiums, all FIFA registered international teams, national anthems and crowd paraphernalia). Felt like the graphical style on the PS3 version was a step down for World Cup 2014 (very cartoony in appearance) when compared with it’s predecessor core game (FIFA 14) so hopefully there is no similar stumble this time. Will absolutely love playing this game with mates in the lead-up to the games each night and great to recreate matches when results don’t go your way 😉

I remember when EA used to have a ‘road to world cup’ and then a ”world cup’ game on top of their FIFA releases…so this is actually quite welcomed, and hooray for us switch owners too….
Wonder if we’re going to get FIFA 19?

I think the game has sold okay on the Switch, I think they will release 19 but it will be the same version as 18 and not the Frostbyte enging version the other consoles have.
