While over a 1000 people lined up in Times Square for their Wii, one man was there taking Photos as well as lining up, NYC based Vookian JH was kind enough to take some happy snaps on the front-line of the Wii TRU launch and the Nintendo World Store launch.

It was a cold and dreary night; the winter frost biting and the scathing winds of fervent anticipation cut even the most stalwart Believers to the bone. The setting was Time Square, New York New York, where sat thousands – aye, I say thousands – on the cusp of a new era of gaming, an era called Wii. Never had the name rang truer – for it was the collective Wii that sat huddled together, the masses of young and old, new and long forgotten, brought together in one place at one time – so that the multitude can again join under one gaming banner. Join as Wii.

For it is here I met 2 40 year old women, flown in from Wisconsin to just for tonight, and here it is I met a family of 3, with their 5 year old son (awake well passed his bedtime) who a full generation ago, was barely a babe when he camped out for the long-shelved GameCube. Few events can bring so many different people together from so many different walks of life like a true Nintendo event, and fewer still have had the impact – be it long lasting – as the launch of the Nintendo Wii.
