Nintendo has revealed a new type of Pokémon will feature in the upcoming 3DS games, X & Y.

– Fairy type

The new Eeveelution Sylveon will be listed as Fairy, along with several existing Pokémon which have been reclassified. Some of these include Jigglypuff, Marill and Gardenvoir. Sylveon is the first of the lot to show off the new fairy type abilities which are strong against Dragon.

In addition to this, it was revealed there is a new virtual pet mode in X & Y known as Pokémon-Amie. Here players will be able to boost relationships with their favourite pocket monsters, pet them using the touch screen, and/or make faces at them using the 3DS camera.

Pokémon X & Y will be released worldwide on the 12th of October this year, with more details being release later today at the Pokémon Direct presentation.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
