We have some exclusive information reguarding Nintendo Australia’s WiFi plans, with plans of receiving even more in the not too distant future. Heres the scoop:
– Animal Crossing DS, contrary to popular belief will be hitting Australia this year; the date is currently November, shortly after the launch of the American version. A more exact date will be announced down the track.
– As you know the Gameboy Micro will be released 3rd November at $149.95, the Micro will also ship with 2 Face Plates. Other face plates will be available either at stores or from Nintendo themselves in packs of two priced at $19.95, no word on which designs or colours will be available.
– In an interview early last week with head of European marketing, Jim Merrick announced the US and UK Nintendo websites could be linked with your “”DS User Name”” for tournaments, clans and ladders. We can confirm that Nintendo Australia’s site will also be joining in with these features. Each site will essentially be running the same system.
– A Stars Calalogue and forum are being considered for the Nintendo Australia website. Since the new site will be based off the US/Japanese/UK websites it will require extra work to remove these features from the upcoming site changes.
– Wireless DS hotspots for Australia are being negotiated, but whether anything will happen is still up in the air.
– A new Nintendo DS bundle should be available at Christmas time for $189, no idea on what the bundle will be, but rule out the Play-Yan as there are no plans on release it in Australia.
