Press Release

Following on from the enormous success of the inaugural eGames & Entertainment Expo (eGames) which was launched in 2006, Australasian Exhibitions & Events is pleased to announce that the eGames & Entertainment Expo will this year return to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from November 16 -18, 2007.

The inaugural eGames & Entertainment Expo was incredibly well received by the industry and public alike and buoyed by this success, plans are now well underway for an even bigger, better and more exciting event which will be sure to wow the games and entertainment industries alike, commented Noel Gray, Managing Director of Australasian Exhibitions and Events.

We had great feedback from last years exhibitors, who recognised that eGames lived up to its promise of becoming the definitive industry event for Australia. As a result, we expect to dramatically grow the event to cater for the increased demand from exhibitors and visitors alike.

We will also be featuring a much greater range of digital entertainment products on the show floor, alongside the traditional games companies. We have reserved additional floor space at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre as we know that once again, the eGames & Entertainment Expo 2007 will be a mecca for games enthusiasts and the general public alike. Anyone interested in the latest technology and electronic gadgets for personal and home use will love eGames, he added.

In addition to the return of eGames, organisers are excited by the decision made by the Game Developers Association of Australia (GDAA) to hold their annual conference – GameConnect Asia Pacific – during the week of the expo in Victoria.

The simultaneous staging of the two events will create a dynamic industry week in Melbourne. Enthusiasts from Australia and overseas are expected to flock to Melbourne to share ideas, network and have fun in an educational and interactive environment.

Multimedia Victoria has signed on as a major sponsor for the event. The eGames event organisers are working closely with Multimedia Victoria and the GDAA to ensure that this years expo has an even greater emphasis on education and career opportunities within the games industry.

With the new generation games consoles now in the marketplace, there will be increased action from games publishers and accessory manufactures who will use the expo to release a host of next generation games for the vital Christmas time frame. Many of the previous exhibitors have already signed up, with many increasing the size of their stands.

Visitors to eGames will have the unique opportunity to try and buy the latest and greatest in gaming technology and digital entertainment and participate in a wide range of exclusive at show activities and competitions over the three day event.

Victoria is the ideal location for an event focusing on games and digital entertainment, particularly as the state currently contributes to over half of the estimated AUD 852 million made by Australias game development industry.

Over 15,000 visitors of all ages ranging from keen gamers to consumers with a casual interest in games and digital entertainment – attended the event in 2006 and event organisers are anticipating an even bigger attendance this year.
