Flight Control developers join the EA mass.

Firemint, developers of the great Flight Control and Real Racing games has been bought by Electronic Arts. Flight Control and Real Racing have been huge hits for iOS platforms and have sold millions. Flight Control was also release on DSiWare.

No dollar amount for purchase of the firm was announced, but it has been confirmed that the studios 55 employees will continue to work out of the same office in Melbourne.

This purchase just shows how serious EA is about gaining presence in the mobile and social gaming scene, you know the games on your phones.

“The Firemint team is remarkable for its critical and commercial success,” says EA Interactive executive vice president Barry Cottle.

“Having them as part of EA will accelerate our position as worldwide leader in game development for mobile devices and online gaming platforms.”

If Firemint can do as well as they have with what theyve had so far, a little money and marketing help from EA should help out a lot.
