E306: Conference Recap + Photos!
Wow what a conference, while it lacked in some of the final details, what was on show was spectacular! We we’re there and we have included tons of Photo’s in the Gallery. But if you missed the event you can continue to read the full recap with a second by second update.
Also please not we are in the process of uploading and adding tons of screens and movies, please be patient while we do this as there is LOTS to get through!
– Shiggy walks up. Begins conducting. Animated orchestra on big screen. Playing Zelda tune by using the Wii Controller.
– Shiggy is playing some sort of racing game. Some guy playing a sword fighting game.
– Reggie appears. “”If all you want is next generation, you’re in the wrong place””.
-Speaker present in controller.
– Playing = believing video includes clips of new Mario, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda: TP, Tennis, Ping Pong, an unnamed racing game, Wario Ware, a hurdles title among others.
– Reggie talking about Nintendo’s vision.
– Wii released in Q4 2006. No region mentioned.
– Reggie talks about name. Jokes that only two people liked the Wii name. The response didn’t suprise Nintendo. Used Lexus and Google as examples of other weird names.

– Nate and Bill come out. World premiere of TP on Wii. No mention yet on GCN version of TP. Control seems very responsive. Built-in speaker. Hear draw of bow, sound of arrow in the air. Nunchaku has motion sensor. More battles shown using bow. Sword fight. Quick jab and rotation for sword movement.
– GCN version and Wii version of Zelda: TP. Will both launch on same day, Wii Launch
– 3 new IPs. Excite Truck (like Bike), Disaster: Day of Crisis (mature looking end of the world type game)and Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
-27 Wii games at E3 show floor. No launch title number specifics, will come later.
– Red Steel, franchised exclusively, shown by UbiSoft France makers of the game. Graphics look slightly updated GCN graphics. Effects look marginally better.
– George Harrison on stage. 16 Million sales. PSP sales “”millions less””. 6 million copies of Nintendogs. 1.3 million users. 40 million gameplay sessions. Brain Age sold 120,000 units in 3 weeks in U.S.
– Pokemon Blue/Red Mystery Dungeon, Yoshi, Star Fox and Diddy Kong Racing announced.
– Mario Hoops: 3 on 3, Elite Beat Agents , Yoshi’s Island 2, Pokemon, Diddy Kong Racing, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Big Brain Academy, Mario Vs. DK videos among others shown.

– Reggie talks about what’s hot and not. “”what’s hot is the feel of the game, the look is secondary””. Reggie says he is looking forward to seeing everyone on the show floor, camera pans out at crowd and the show is over.
