Being a multi-million dollar franchise, you would expect Nintendo to announce a follow up for their Wii Fit franchise with their unveiling of the Wii U. Utilising your already existing Wii Balance Board and the Wii U Gamepad, Wii Fit U will provide new exercises and activities for any fitness nut to train with, including the ability to conduct simple functions such as weighing yourself without even turning on you TV!

In addition to this, a new pedometer was also revealed that can transfer any steps or runs you go on and transfer them straight into Wii Fit U, allowing you to essentially use Wii Fit U or at least contribute to your profile while you’ve left the house. A “Fit Meter” also measures how many hypothetical calories you would’ve burnt in your participation, adding a competitive edge and presumably a source of motivation and/or encouragement.

And of course, you can engage in some basic exercises without the TV using just the Wii U Gamepad when your selfish girlfriend wants to use the TV to watch nature documentaries too, which is a nice feature.

Wii Fit U has just been announced for the Wii U, but it’s currently unknown whether or not it will be a launch title.
