Nintendo are bringing the 2D sidescrolling joy of New Super Mario Bros. to the Wii in an all-new four-player adventure game
Cammie Dunaway and friends showed off the four-player co-op mode of the new Mario venture, which takes the sidescrolling action of classic 2D Mario games and fuses it with the charming 3D style of the DS international bestseller. Dunnaway stated that in making the new platformer they wanted to allow “Not just more enemies, more more levels and more items, but also more players”.
The emphasis on co-op encourages players to work together to collect coins and items whilst protecting each other, whilst playing as iconic Nintendo favourites Mario, Luigi and either a yellow or blue toad. Item boxes.
New Super Mario Bros. on the DS remains one of the biggest sellers on the handheld, having sold 18 million units to date, and still making frequent appearances in recent sales charts. New Super Marios Bros. Wii is expected to be out before Christmas this year.
