DSi gets web-proxy internet filtering, blocks 35 millions websites

by Josh MouldsApril 29, 2009

Security vendor Astaro have detailed the new handhelds cloud-based internet content filtering, which has blockes over 35 million sites deemed inappropriate.

The DSi browsers optional parental controls are comparatively over-zealous in the range of content blocked by the filter. The remote filtering utilises the same classification technology as Astaro’s other internet software developed for school and government PC-based networks. What does this mean for you? If you do enable the filtering on your DSi, then the websites you are likely to visit may fall under frequently-updated exclusion list managed externally by Astaro. If you choose not to turn it on, you are able to cruise the entire internet in all its grimy glory.
