DS outselling PSP 3:1 in Europe

by Daniel VuckovicOctober 16, 2006

Speaking in a DS Lite guide recently for European Computer Games Industry News trade weekly MCV, James Honeywell has revealed that the DS is now outselling the PSP 3:1 in Europe.

More Inside Up until the end of last year sales between the two formats were fairly evenly matched, with DS slightly outselling PSP, he said. Since the launch of the DS lite Honeywell continued, we are outselling the competition by a ratio of 3:1. This increase in hardware sales has also driven an increase in DS software sales, moving ahead of PSP in the total number of units and also, more interestingly, we have now seen that the same third party titles are selling more on the DS than on other formats.

While it’s not as good as the 3:1 the DS and DS lite are pulling Europe, the dual-screened handhelds are certainly selling nearly as much here. With last figures putting the DS Lite clear by 100,000 units, and now that Pokmon is out we could even expect a bigger lead.
