Dragalia Lost’s developers say Nintendo stopped them making more money from the game

Sure ok.

Despite Nintendo’s mobile games (mostly) being free-to-play affairs supported by transactions, none of them have been really greedy like some other mobile games can be.

But if the co-developer of Dragalia Lost had its way – they would have gone further.

CyberAgent, the parent company of CyGames has reduced its financial forecast for the first time ever because of Dragalia Lost. They say that Nintendo hasn’t allowed them make more on it, in one instance even tuning the game so people spend less.

“Nintendo is not interested in making a large amount of revenue from a single smartphone game. If we managed the game alone, we would have made a lot more.”

CyberAgent rep.

The Wall Street Journal who reported on this first say that Nintendo said they feared damaging Nintendo’s brand image if they pushed the microtransctions and in game purchases too much.

Maybe they would have made more money if they released the game in more countries, just saying.
