DOOM Eternal is coming to Switch

Bethesda have been strong supporters of the Switch and that continues today, with the announcement that DOOM Eternal, the follow-up game to DOOM is also coming to Nintendo Switch. The game was announced via a tweet, which you can see below, but there might be more.

Developer Panic Button, the studio who brought the original DOOM to Switch last year, may or may not be the ones handling it this time. They tweeted out some surprise at the announcement, only for the DOOM account to respond with a Reggie gif.

DOOM Eternal is a sequel to DOOM and this time is not set on Mars, players will venture to Earth, which after being invaded by creatures from Hell looks a bit different, Phobos is another location, which has just been invaded by a massive Hell-ish army and even more secret locations.

The game will feature an all new soundtrack by local composer Mick Gordon, who created the soundtrack for the first game, so fans will be happy and when you combine new music with new weapons and more, things will become quite interesting. One of the new weapons that players will have access to is the new Super Shotgun, which contains the all new Meat Hook attachment, which lets you pull yourself towards a targeted enemy, before you unleash the power of the gun.

One feature that the game will offer, though unsure if it will happen in the Switch version yet, is that you can invade the game of other DOOM Eternal players, but they can also invade yours. This is the official description of this mode.

As the Slayer, allow real players to invade your campaign as demons for a dramatic and unpredictable twist anytime you’re playing the campaign. Or join the ranks of the damned yourself as you become a demon and invade a friend or other player’s campaign. Invade others either by yourself or with another player, as part of a hunting party, to give the Slayer a true taste of Hell.

DOOM Eternal has no release date yet, but don’t expect it until mid 2019 at the earliest. For now, here are some pieces of concept art to look at, the screens released so far are all 4K versions of the PC build, so we won’t show them here, not until we get some Switch screens instead.
