Criterion’s Need for Speed Has Burnt Out

Leaving the racing genre behind for the future.

It would appear that Need for Speed and Burnout developers Criterion are feeling a little burnt out on the racing genre.

Creative Director at Criterion Games Alex Ward has posted a series of tweets saying that for now the studio is done with racing games. They wish to try something new after working with the genre one way or another for the past decade.

The tweets also go some way to squashing rumours about a possible Need for Speed Underground reboot.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted U will be the last racing game the team will be working on for some time, luckily its really good.

What next for the future of the Need for Speed series then?
