Classic gaming, classic sounds and now on Vinyl with the Yooka-Laylee soundtrack

Yooka-Laylee is a game that is built on the classic formula of the 3d platformers of yesteryear, with its creation being handled by most of the people that worked on those same games. However on aspect that really got people excited, when they first announced it, was the composers who would be scoring the game, David Wise and Grant Kirkhope.

Those two guys have helped score some of the most influential and classic games, like Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong Country, Perfect Dark and more and are both working on new titles, yet to be released. But with that impressive track record and the small sampling we have had from Yooka-Laylee, there was also bound to drum up interest in a physical soundtrack release and now that is happening.

Playtonic Games and Team 17 have partnered with Laced Records to bring the games soundtrack to gamers, with the choice of digital, cd or vinyl versions available.

“It’s great to be celebrating the release of the game with a separate soundtrack release. We’ve had the pleasure of humming these tunes all day throughout development and were blessed to have great composers write music for us in their renowned style” said Gavin Price, MD of Playtonic.

The Yooka-Laylee soundtrack will comprise of 28 original tracks, with CD and digital versions including 10 extra tracks of variant compositions. You can enjoy 4 of those tracks below, which I highly recommend listening to and if you wanted to get your own copy of the soundtrack, you can order it right here.
