With the end of the year fast approaching Nintendo still, have a couple of big cards left to play. One of those is the second part and story-driven downloadable content for Breath of the Wild, the Champions Ballad.

While the new four Champion amiibo are due in just a couple of weeks, the DLC isn’t – but it is still planned for this year. The news comes from a video shown at PAX Australia this weekend with Eiji Aonuma who promises that the team is “currently working on it with great effort”.

The video also has Mr Aonuma saying G’Day and Cheerio, which is pretty cool.

Though it’s possible there could be a delay, we would generally expect the DLC release date to align with the amiibo launch on 10th November. At the Zelda Symphony of the Goddess performance at the Sydney Opera House last night, the finale was a BotW Goron City theme mashup and the accompanying footage played across all of the Champions. It was a cool hype up of Zelda future, coming on the heels of the second last song, introduced by a video of Mr Aonuma about surprises in the Zelda series, The Ballad of the Wind Fish from Link’s Awakening.
