Breath of the Wild patch ver 1.2.0 allows you to change audio language

One of the complaints with Breath of the Wild, of which there aren’t many, was that the voice acting wasn’t to everyone’s liking. But now you can change it!
A new patch for the game has gone live updating the game to Version 1.2.0, it applies to both the Switch and the Wii U version. The patch allows you to change the audio language to any of the 9 supported languages in the game, previously the audio would be set to the language of your machine.
The languages include: Japanese, English, French (France and Canada), German, Spanish for Spain and Latin America, Italian and Russian. For the Wii U version you’ll need to download a ‘Voice Pack’ from the eShop, but the Switch version has it included.

Fortunately, there’s very little dialogue in the game, so I don’t see much point in this feature. Nevertheless, I’ll go for a glide in Japanese and see if it makes a difference.

After completing all the lost memories, I came to a single conclusion: Zelda’s voice is pretty bad in the English language version.
I welcome the opportunity to give it a crack in it’s native tongue – the way I enjoy my Dragonballs!
I totally agree with you. Whoever was in charge of the english voice direction either dropped the ball, didn’t care and just pocketed the money, or was favouring the Zelda voice actress for some reason (perhaps a relation?). It’s a very poor job and, since they’ve appeared in the trailers, I hope the higher-ups saw it and are going to do something about it for next time (either by making him ship-up or get out).
Just adding on that thought, it boggles the mind. I mean, Nintendo is a company that’s always scrutinised by the public and they’re very particular about their image. Half-assing something is career suicide -Nintendo has axed things for even less than this.
