Bargain Roundup: Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido

It’s almost been a year since it was originally revealed, but Sushi Striker is finally with us this week. Originally announced for the Nintendo 3DS, we learned about a Switch version earlier this year and we’ve all had an entree with the demo.
So if you’re going the full sushi train this week, where should buy it? There’s not too much variation this time which seems to be the trend. Aside from the real big titles stores are just not even trying anymore.

JB Hi-Fi has the 3DS version advertised for $49 in their latest catalogue (and this pricing is also reflected on the product page on their website), while the Switch version is advertised as $69, but is listed for $59. Quite frankly, I don’t understand why there is any price discrepancy at all considering that the content between the two versions is more or less the same (as well as the fact that it appears to be a fairly simplistic low-budget game).
I anticipate that the 3DS version will be somewhat of a flop and will become bargain bin fodder fairly quickly. I think Nintendo should have priced this as a budget title (perhaps at the lowest pricing tier for Switch games, being $39.95), as it would encourage more impulse buys. The game is far too expensive for what it is.
According to reviews, the 3DS release seems the way to go. I’m sure it will be in the bargain bin within the next year.
So, waiting for that really does seem the best option.
