Australia: Where Marth, Ike and other ‘rare’ amiibo are common

GameCube Adapters for Wii U run in abundance.
This article is more than 10 years old.

Australia might be ‘down-under’ and people may joke that everything is the wrong way or upside down here – but they’d be wrong. Unless you’re talking about Nintendo, amiibo and what is and isn’t in stock.

For months we’ve had worldwide shortages of amiibo, Marth, Ike and more recently the wave 4 figures. This wasn’t just here in Australia, but also the rest of the world. As of last week stores around the country were absolutely full of them and other amiibo as well.

Some readers sent us these photos over the weekend. If you want Marth, Ike or are still hunting down wave 4 amiibo, hit up a Target or K-Mart – they’ll likely be there. You can likely thank the impending release of Codename S.T.E.A.M for these Fire Emblem refreshes.

It’s not just amiibo though, last year it was near impossible to find a Wii U GameCube Adapter for Nintendo Wii U. Stores sold out, Nintendo Australia sold out and eBay was a last, expensive resort.

Now, like the amiibo stocks have been replenished in nearly every store, we’ve had reader reports from JB Hi-Fi, EB Games and even the department stores have had them in stock.

Have you been able to find the amiibo you were after now or a GameCube Adapter? Does anyone care anymore? Let us know in the comments.

Yep, I was gonna send in to about this. Got a Marth and Ike last week in Target Geelong!

My local EB just got stock today, so quickly grabbed a Marth and Ike.
Still nothing in the BigW, Target or Kmart here though.

I’m after a Fox, one of the most elusive Amiibos.

I still can’t find Lucario. Actually picked up one of the few Marth’s I found at first hoping to sell/trade it for one, until I found out everywhere was suddenly getting Marth instock 🙁

Yes, but where can I get Dedede and Meta Knight?
I think the reason there are photos of all these amiibo on the shelves is because our department stores don’t take preorders or indicate when they get a restock. Pretty much it goes from only Mario and Pikachu to all the new ones overnight.
I must just have bad luck because I never see new ones; all I’ve been able to find of the new wave in stores is Wario. ew

Thank you for letting me know about EB having Meta Knight.
Now where can I find Dedede…

Ike, Marth, Charizard, Wario, Lucina, Sonic, Diddy Kong and a few other common Amiibos were all sighted at JBHIFI Oxley over the weekend.

Also had the limited edition Majoras Mask 3DS in stock.

Oh Ps: They also had one lonely gamecube adapter in stock above the 3DS consoles.

Same here. I preoordered it for $29 but I think they are selling them for $39 currently.

I walked into a Big W the other day and whilst they had some Amiibo, they didn’t have Little Mac, Sheik or Toon Link. 🙁

I might do the rounds at Bay Village and Westfield tomorrow. Never been physical amiibo hunting, should be fun!

Ha, and yet when I was looking at places last Friday every store I looked at in my local shopping centre just had the basic selection of Mario, Link, Peach, Kirby and Donkey Kong. Now I kind of want to go and have a look around again.
