Taking place during Melbourne International Games Week, the 2018 Australian Game Developer Awards (AGDA) shone a light on the talent in the local games industry, including several Nintendo Switch games.

Team Cherry won Studio of the Year for their brilliant work on Hollow Knight, which Vooks’ own Oliver Brandt declared “another Aussie-made game that soars beyond expectations.”

Taking out Game of the Year was The Gardens Between from The Voxel Agents. In Paul Roberts’ review, he described The Gardens Between as “a lovely and touching game, telling a story about friendship.”

Additionally, the Canada/UK/Australia studio collective Massive Monster received recognition for their cute platformer The Adventure Pals.

I made this exhibition. Frankly, I am very proud of the guys from Australia. Especially with the Cherry team, I think they deserve Studio of Year. Hollow Knight is truly a masterpiece. Now the gaming industry is developing very strongly. Do not believe, then see what the new Oculus can do and what wonderful games there are. Now in every game there is a plot. In my time, the plot was only in Mario. I also liked the work of Hien Pham and his “It Will Be Hard” and “Super Starfish” from the studio Prorosrtar Games. Good luck to all!
