Aussie Nintendo Download Updates (24/12) – Holiday Special

It’s Christmas! So what am I doing here? Oh, the eShop doesn’t sleep, my friends. Especially not for all the new Wii U and 3DS owners out there!

The Wii U gets the most content this week, as in, it gets content. And boy, Nintendo and Square must have had a few happy drinks over the holidays, with not just Cloud joining the Smash roster, but Super Mario RPG heading on over to the Wii U Virtual Console as well! Strangely enough, it’s joined by the DS port of Super Mario 64. I quite liked the port, with it adding Luigi, Wario and Yoshi as playable characters, but I’m curious to see how it will control!

And it’s not Christmas without a long list of sales! While last week had a monster of a list that nearly killed us, this week still adds a decent chunk more, with a lot of great titles in there. Darksiders II, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and a bunch of Atlus games on the 3DS are my personal stand outs, but still give the whole list a flick through!

We’ll have one more eShop update before the new year, so we’ll see you next week!

What is the point of leaving TBC on everything? I come to this site to get informed about this kind of thing without having to switch on my Wii U and 3DS and especially considering I can just do that when you’ve just left TBC on everything it’s a bit frustrating.

Well i would imagine that he doesn’t have the sale prices yet. This list atm is informing you of what will be on special, so you don’t buy it now at a higher price.

I think they have to wait till it actually updates on the eShop before they can get prices.

I called Vooks out on it before and he told me the reasoning. It is a little annoying though.

I only come for the Virtual Console releases.

The other commenters are right, here’s what happens every week – On Monday Nintendo Europe release a list of what’s coming on Friday, since we ‘share’ releases we’re pretty much going to get what they get except for games that aren’t rated here (so do we list or not). So we take the list of games, price what we can and what are in the eShop already (which on Monday isn’t anything) to get this list up for you as soon as possible. That way, 4 days in advance you know what’s on sale so you don’t go and by anything.

The solution would be for Nintendo Australia to give us the same list, with AU prices on the Monday too and then there wouldn’t be any issues – that’s happened maybe two-three times in 10 years.

      Basically if we;

      • Leave prices TBC, we get yelled at
      • Spend hours converting percentages on EU prices to AUD and get them slightly off because its $9.17 for SteaWworld Dig instead of $9.15, we get yelled at
      • Put EU games up that then don’t come here, we get yelled at
      • Miss games that come to AU later and don’t tell people, we get yelled at
      • Don’t put anything up, we get yelled at

Not only that, the store updates at 10pm for me, 1am for Troy – it’s late, its slow to go through the eShops (TWO OF THEM) and get all the prices (and discounts) manually – especially on weeks such as this where ‘everything’ is on sale.

Other Nintendo sites, American ones, EU ones can literally (and they do) just copy and paste a list from Nintendo and they’re done for the week. This article takes hours to put together some weeks, when its just a bunch of VC games and we know they’re going to be standard prices its easy boom done.

There’s many variables which change how ‘complete’ this article is, but by the time the update is actually out (I mean give us half an hour) its complete.

Best thing you can do for us, tell @NintendoAUNZ to give @vooksdotnet the weekly eShop releases.

Saying Atlus made me interested. Seeing it wasn’t NIS America published Atlus games made me sigh in disappointment…

Basically, don’t have an issue with Vooks for Nintendo AU for being shit.

I appreciate the work you guys do, nobody else is doing it.

On a related note, if NX is still region locked, I’m going fully import status and Nintendo AU will not be getting a cent from me. Get a bloody email address, you draconian bastards.

had a look this morn and it had Super Mario RPG at $10.40, is that a new price point for SNES games?
