Aussie Mario pirate could stop early releases for Australia

by Daniel VuckovicFebruary 9, 2010

We were the first in the world to get New Super Mario Bros Wii, but the actions of one could mean thats possibly never going to happen again

In Australia, we’re not blessed with good release dates 99% of the time. So when Nintendo (and we thank them) decide to release New Super Mario Bros Wii in Australia before the rest of the world, not only were we thankful but hopeful that this was a sign that things were on the up and up.

But after today and the news that an Aussie was the first to pirate and upload New Super Mario Bros Wii to the world, it seems that could cause early releases in Australia to be all but over. Speaking to Gamespot AU, a Nintendo Australia spokesperson has said "Nintendo Australia is always pushing for games to be released here at the same time as the rest of the world, so we were pleased to get New Super Mario Bros. Wii before anyone else," the spokesperson said. "Unfortunately, due to to the actions of this individual, future release dates may be affected for Australia, which is disappointing for us."

Good work moron, you stuffed it up for the rest of us.
