Poor Stephen Totilo, first Nintendo makes him stark-raving mad by not giving him enough room on his Wii, but then they send him Animal Crossing and the cute characters get mean. Mr. Totilo of MTV Multiplayer received a special press copy of Wild World from Nintendo to hook up to Animal Crossing: City Folk (Lets Go to the City in PAL territories). Along with that came the special phrase that is the cause of much controversy. More inside. One of the characters apparently used the racial slur Whats up N—-? While not really a slur but more of a greeting, gaming pressers were somewhat surprised at this remark.

A feature of the Animal Crossing games was to get the other characters to learn a certain phrase and make it popular among the other animals. The animals will start calling you that phrase. I recently played Wild World and this one character called me “”Asshole.”” I was like, what the heck is this? Since when do Animal Crossing characters cuss at you? It was funny to say the least.

Nintendo has claimed they have always been politically correct and have decided to recall those copies of the game. Apparently someone was having too much fun at Programming. Luckily these were only given to about 12 members of the press, or Nintendo would have a lawsuit on their hands.
