DotEmu, the french game maker and publisher has announced that Lizardcube’s remake of the Sega Master System, will be released on Nintendo Switch on April 18th, with players being able to play through the stunning new visuals and sound, or swapping back to the original style, or a combination of them.

Boasting beautiful, hand-drawn animations and a re-orchestrated soundtrack, the cult classic returns with a unique blend of exploration, action, and adventure. Play as Lizard-Man, Mouse-Man, Piranha-Man, Lion-Man, and Hawk-Man, and use their unique abilities to uncover the land’s deepest secrets. Switch in real-time between the original retro graphics and the visually stunning modern remake, and input your old Sega Master System passcode to unlock all of your old saves and progression – just how you left them in 1989.

Because the game looks so good, here is a collection of screens from the game, that you can enjoy.

Looks great, I wonder what the price will be for this title.

I don’t expect this one to be released on the physical format unless it becomes a huge success (I believe it could) however the team has mentioned they have one more surprise left although I expect that it will be the full soundtrack available to customers rather than a physical product. I vaguely remember reading that they were considering making a limited short run of physical copies however I may be confusing my info between the upcoming Monster Boy which is another Wonder Boy game due for release possibly around June sometime but nothing has officially been said yet so take that with a grain of salt.

I personally would love to purchase physical copies of both this and the later mentioned game Monster Boy.
