Wii U game prices in Australia revealed, majority of games $79.95

Forget all the clap trap about Wii U games all being over one hundred dollars, the real pricing for Wii U titles in Australia has been all but confirmed today.

We’ve received word that Nintendo and other third party Wii U titles have had their RRP prices locked in and the results are surprising. The news comes from a memo sent to a retailer who is famous for selling their games at the recommended retail price. The memo says that the publishers, which includes Nintendo, have confirmed these prices and they should roll out online soon.  We’ve seen similar pricing for some of the third party titles already at other stores.

So the good news then is that the vast majority of Wii U titles will be at $79.95 or below. There’s only a few exceptions to this rule with the Skylanders pack and Call of Duty Black Ops II all coming in above this $79.95 mark. Here are the prices we’ve been sent so far;

$59.95 – Game Party Champions

$69.95 – Tank Tank Tank!, 007 Legends, Transformers Prime, Rise of the Guardians, Family Party, Ben 10

$79.95 – Batman Arkham City: Armoured Edition, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendo Land

$99.95 – Skylanders (starter pack)

$109.95 – Call of Duty: Black Ops II

You’ll do well to note that this is only a select group of publishers pricing. Ubisoft’s titles haven’t been priced yet and could still be more (although we doubt it). However this news is a double edged sword, while Wii U games look to be cheaper, it does mean that Nintendo have an entirely different problem with the pricing of 3DS titles now.

We’re seeking comments from publishers and retailers alike.
