Pac-Man Vs. (Gamecube) Review

Introduction

What was once touted as Nintendo and Namco’s big Connectivity idea (well Nintendos they didnt even ask Namco’s permission before starting this) has now ended up as a bonus disk on some Namco games that have come out on the Gamecube. I played my copy with R Racing to be honest this Pacman game is way better. Also I believe it comes with Pacman World 2 but I dont think that is coming out in Australia.

Graphics

Nothing we havent seen before in a 3D Pacman Game basic 3D models and backgrounds with the Pacman level realistically recreated. However there are some other levels which have had more effort put into with minor efforts. These levels are themed like the Haunted House etc. Also the way the game tells you to pass around the GBA is confusing and more time could have been spent explaining this.

Sound

Very Basic Midi stuff, Original Pacman music has been re created and also some new music for the menus and also the themed stages. All the same sound effects are still there like the sounds when the round starts and when Pac man dies.

Gameplay

Being based around Pacman the controls arent that are to comes to term with only the control stick being needed to play anyone and everyone can play this game and thats what Pacman has been about.

But if you still wondering what the game is about it basically REQUIRES one GBA and up to the 3 NGC controllers of course the more the better (up to 3 of course). The person on the Gameboy plays as Pacman and must go around the level collecting the pellets and avoiding the ghosts, while this is happening the person/s on the NGC must try and catch and stop Pacman before this happens. But this is where is gets fun the people on the NGC cant see where Pacman is apart from there little viewing window on the screen. The Pac Man player can see all however from the GBA which was the fully revealed level on it as well a s the positions of all the ghosts however the person who catches Pacman then has to swap with the GBA playing person and they become Pacman and this is where is can become confusing. Before you begin the game however you set a score limit and the first person to reach that limit wins.

Thus is the simple and fun game of Pacman VS

Value/Difficulty
Since the game is free with the purchase of another game it makes it great value, however the games you have to buy are well lets just say less the great. However if you have bought the games required to get this gem then the next time some of your mates come over give this a whirl and you’ll being playing it over and over again!
