Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers arrives on Switch in May

Capcom has announced that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers will be launching on the Switch on May 26th. That date has been confirmed for Europe and America, but nothing yet for Australia (not it should matter).

The game to will retail in America at least for $39.95USD, which should put it into the $59.95 bracket here – hopefully.

Street Fighter II, the game that defined the fighting game genre in the 1990s, is back on the Nintendo Switch! The newest iteration of SFII in nearly 10 years features all of the classic characters, a host of new features, as well as two new fighters; Evil Ryu and Violent Ken!

-Features a stellar line-up of characters, including all the original fighters and bosses, the characters added in Super Street Fighter II, plus new additions Evil Ryu and Violent Ken!
-Choose between classic pixel-art graphics for a retro nostalgia trip, or enjoy a refined new modern look!
-Use the Joy-Con to challenge a second player anytime, anywhere. Pull off flashy super combos and show your opponent who the strongest is around!
-In addition to versus action, you can now team up with a friend to take on a CPU opponent!

We’ll let you know once we hear about a local release.

Even if it’s $60-$70, it’s still way cheaper than the $129.95 I payed for Street fighter II turbo when it first released on the SNES! Lol

Definitely gonna be getting this one… I was never able to get into any of the versions of SF IV or V.

Here’s hoping that some of the SF or Capcom versus titles make their way to switch as well…. Maybe even some old school SNK/Neo Geo titles like Samurai Showdown, World Heroes, Fatal fury and King of fighters…

Damn, I miss the days of going to my local arcade and challenging other players who hogged those machines & making them chew through all of their credits so my little brother could get a turn on the machine! Lol

Yes!! I remember finding the original SF2 for $128 at a Big W on a birthday trip with my parents. That was the cheapest I could find it. No idea how I convinced them to spend that much on a single cart, but I think I got my money’s worth. Me and my mates played the hell out of it for months!

Not getting a Switch just yet, but will certainly pick this up when I do.

To my surprise last night when I setup my switch and checked out the estore (after playing BOTW, of course) I found SNK/neo geo’s classic 2d fighter ‘World heroes perfect’ and it was only $9.10, Whislt it’s not street fighter, it helps scratch that itch and at a bargain price too!

Nice. I am yet to play World Heroes, but I have played a fair bit of KOF and Samurai Shodown etc. so I am sure it rocks. I remember the glory days of 2D fighters, where every second game released was one. Remember Primal Rage?? Shame they just don’t make that many anymore.

@Laharl1313 (I couldn’t reply to your reply lol)
Hell yeah I remember Primal rage, I never had it, but I used to play it on my mates megadrive heaps.
You may be to hear that neo geo titles are starting to flood the estore on switch…. Already a few 2D fighters including king of fighters 98 have gone up today ?

Great news about the neo geo games. Maybe it’s odd that I buy cutting edge technology to play games from 20+ years ago but that’s how I roll haha.

Primal Rage was not great really, but I remember the acid pee fatality which was hilarious as a young lad. Super jealous of your Switch, can’t wait to get one!!

Still can’t beat the classics mate, they’re more about fun and less about trying to have the “prettiest” graphics. I think that’s why I’ve been a bit of a Nintendo “fanboy” for all of these years as they know that it’s not a graphics war, if it was, PC would be king!

All my Xbox’ and PlayStation’s just end up as paperweights after the first few months lol
I do still build a fat gaming PC every couple of years which always ends up being used more for business than pleasure hahaha.

If your happy with your current console, I wouldn’t be in a huge rush for the Switch. The longer you delay, the more games will be available and system updates as Nintendo fine tunes the software, firmware ect…. Don’t forget there’s always minor teething problems when a new system rolls out! lol
