Ubisoft slows hardcore FPS development

Just like EA Sports, Ubisoft also see that broadening their audience should theoretically increase their sales. This is why they are no longer dedicating large amounts of development time to hardcore FPS games. Ubisoft designer Phil Therien said that although they are not going to stop making first person shooters, they admit that the market was becoming too small for the games to be viable. More inisde He told gamesindustry.biz: “”We have some ideas to improve on the situation though – keep in mind however that we want our games to be accessible to as many people as possible, otherwise we just couldn’t keep making games.””

Looks like third parties are beginning to catch the Nintendo bug of extending audiences.
