Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will release a little early on the eShop in Australia

Nintendo Australia has announced that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will release a little bit earlier than expected on the eShop.

The game will be available from November 28th at 9pm AEST, normally a game would released dead on midnight – a reprieve of three hours.

Nintendo also says that pre-loading or pre-ordering of the game won’t be available in Australia, in the US right now you can purchase and preload the game before its release date. That feature looks to be a little delayed, we suspect it’ll be the same in the UK.

eShop not your thing? Look for our bargain guide early next week.

This ‘early’ release appears to be compensation for the lack of a pre-download feature in Australia. Sadly, wih Australia’s Internet and a 17GB download size I fear three goes might not be enough!!

Hmm, I don’t know, ever since Nintendo fixed up their store servers I haven’t had too many issues like in the early Wii U days (EG Batman Arkham City taking almost 24hrs to download). Depends on your internet/router I guess. I downloaded both Bayonetta’s (25GB) in about 9hrs. Bought at midnight, went to sleep shortly after and when I awoke in the morning it was just finishing up on the second game. So if someone was to start downloading Smash at 9pm it should be ready for them when they wake up on Saturday. But then Smash is a more popular game and could cause more stress on the servers than Bayonetta.

Yeah… but if you are weighing up downloading or going to the midnight launch, you are probably going to be playing sooner with the midnight launch. It doesn’t really excuse the lack of a pre-download option here in Aus… with Nintendo Network Premium ending they need to build more value into the eShop purchase option.
