StreetPass to get refreshed with new features in 2013

When the Nintendo 3DS came out everyone carried it around with them hoping to StreetPass with everyone and complete puzzles and the Quest. Now it happens less frequently as most people have a collection of puzzles completed and have finished the quest many times over.

That’s all set to change later this year though with Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announcing at an investors meeting today that there’s new features the way. “This year we plan to add some StreetPass-related features to the Nintendo 3DS in order to encourage more people to go out with their Nintendo 3DS, and make StreetPass and SpotPass more popular overseas.”

He also hopes that these new features will help StreetPass be used more in the US. “When it comes to StreetPass, users in the automobile-dominated U.S. do not use it as much as Japanese users do. In contrast, it has gradually become popular in the metropolitan areas of European countries”

The last update to StreetPass came in December 2011, it’s time for something new we think.

I love my StreetPass! It’s without a doubt the game I play the most. Still getting them today, even if they’re not as frequent. Fingers crossed it’s more than just an ‘Advanced Quest’.

I hope they add more depth to the Quest game.
I also hope they update Letter Box to make it easier to manager.
The friend list needs serious management too! I’d like to be able to group friends etc

I had a feeling they were gonna announce some new StreetPass stuff at E3 this year. Hopefully it’s earlier than that though.

In any case, Fire Emblem will probably make the feature more popular. Seriously, every StreetPass hit is a 10 vs 10 battle (which in FE could add up to half an hour of gameplay), so if that doesn’t give people enough incentive to use it, nothing will!

They also need to do more with Play Coins. Using them to buy weapons in RE’s Raid Mode is a great feature! I wanna use Play Coins to buy new characters in LEGO Chima, new items/weapons in Fire Emblem, etc. Then you’ll want to take your 3DS out with you even if you’re not getting StreetPass hits.

Haha try streetpassing in Tassie! Thankfully, my husband and I can streetpass each other, which is good for Quest but not so great for puzzles. However, heading over to Melbourne/Sydney for a convention or Zelda symphony fixes that quick smart!
