How Epic Mickey ended up on Wii
And how it might not stay forever either....

President of Disney Interactive, Stephen Wadsworth, has spoken at the DICE Summit 2010 in Las Vegas about (among other things) the highly anticpiated Epic Mickey. The decision to make Epic Mickey a Wii exclusive has brought in mixed opinions, we love it here on Vooks naturally, but someone people don’t. But why was it chosen for the Wii?

"We’ve got to think about our audience and obviously we have a very large base that has Wii in their homes. It’s not to say that it won’t come to other platforms, but we want to get the intersection of that story, those characters and that audience," Wadsworth told the audience.

"The simple thing is that the key mechanic is an ink and paint mechanic and the motion of the ink and painting and erasing something with the Wii as a gesture is completely intuitive to people," added Hopper. "And as soon as we started playing around with that, it seemed obvious to us that Wii was the right platform to bring this to life."

But it could have played out a whole lot differently too as had Microsoft’s Natal been around earlier- it may have been built for that but at the moment they’re concentrating on the Wii version.
