Normally you hear about movie games and don’t take a second look, but this one looks like it’s going to be a little different. The game takes the sand out of the sand-box and make it more like a Toy Box. Toy Story 3: The Video Game will allow you to use the characters and settings from the game to create your own story, and is being developed in collaboration with Pixar.
"Toy Story 3: The Video Game addresses a fact understood by every kid: imagination is what truly brings toys to life," said John Blackburn, vice president and general manager of Avalanche Software. "That’s really what a toy box is about. We remember that kind of play from our own childhood, and it’s where we began as game designers. With this title, we want to encourage and reward creativity in others."
Fret not, however, as there is a story mode that follows the movie in addition to this interesting new mode. The game is being released on the Wii and Nintendo DS (as well as the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC and PSP) and is due out in America some time in June when the movie is out. Who knows when we’ll get it - we always get ripped off on Pixar releases.
