Latest Iwata Asks feature covers Spirit Tracks
Another Iwata Asks feature is abound, this time Satoru Iwata sites down with the Eiji Aonuma and director Daiki Iwamoto..

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has sat down with The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks producer Eiji Aonuma and director Daiki Iwamoto to give their thoughts on the game as it nears its release. Like most Iwata Asks, it’s a good read and a nice insight in the development process of our favourite games.

The train that Link uses to get around in was a hot topic with the development team. They even debated over its inclusion:

Iwamoto: But I did think that I didn’t want to get too caught up in making it "The Legend of Zelda-like". There was even an argument about how a train didn’t really seem to fit with "The Legend of Zelda".

Iwata: Ah, yes, I did hear a little about that. You mean that debate, the one about whether or not it was really all right to have a train in The Legend of Zelda.

Iwamoto: Then people were wondering whether we shouldn’t change the train to something else. Still, we talked to the designer, and to all sorts of people, and we ultimately decided to stick with the train. In the first place, everybody has their own idea of what The Legend of Zelda is supposed to be like.

The group touches on many more subjects including the book that inspired the mode of transportation in the game, as well as the fact that they didn’t like Tetra very much so decided to leave her out!

While you’re waiting for the release of Spirit Tracks in Australia on December 10, read up on our impression of the game if you haven’t already.
