After a little delay the latest US charts information has been released and in a big month there have been some movers and changers, some ups, some downs and some flops. Hardware was up all around but the Wii and PS3 were the ones to watch with the Wii up 185,468 units to 462,000 (rounded). The PS3 price drop and introduction of the Slim caused the Wii to fall from top stop coming in with 491,800 (rounded) units sold. The 360 was further behind on 352,600. The DS remained the highest selling with 524,200 sold and the PSP Go, went up and left and didn’t make that much of an impact at all on the charts.

Software was strong again with Wii Sports Resort (442.2k) under Halo ODST (1.52m) which topped the chart. An impressive debut for Mario and Luigi’s Bowser Inside Story see if fourth on the chart with 258.100 copies sold. The Beatles Rock Band on Wii also changed in Position ten with just over 200,000 copies sold.

Other high profile games that failed to chart in the top ten but which sold well were Kingdom Hearts 385/2 with 195,000 sold and Scribblenauts just below that on 194,000. Scribblenauts was only out for two and half weeks so that number is pretty impressive. Muramasa also has sold in excess of 35,000 copies, great for a niche game on the Wii.

Other games which we are worried about are Dead Space Extraction and Spyborgs which sold just over 9,000 and 500 (yes five hundred) each. While both games launched in the last days of the month it doesn’t bode well and will have an effect says developer Visceral saying it was a shame no one bought it.
